The Emergency Homeowners' Loan Program (EHLP)

Counseling Agency LookupThe EHLP program offers zero interest, forgivable bridge loans to homeowners who have experienced a drop in income of at least 15% directly resulting from involuntary unemployment or underemployment due to adverse economic conditions and/or a medical emergency.

EHLP is only available in the following states/territory: Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, Hawaii, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Puerto Rico, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.

Housing counseling agencies funded through the Emergency Homeowners’ Loan Program (EHLP), can provide you with the information and assistance you need to apply for the EHLP program. Applications will be accepted through September 15, 2011. However, homeowners are strongly encouraged to submit all required documents quickly since EHLP funds are provided to qualified homeowners on a first-come, first-served basis.
